Midnight Shirtlessness

Okay, I know the above post is more of a shirtless drawing than a picture, but what can I say? Times are tough. With no new television for another three weeks, I have been forced to fantasize about the Nora Roberts' movies whose common thread seems to be good male shirtlessness judging from the posters plastered all over the subway (see above). If only I had Lifetime, I would be watching these made-for-television movies to help me pass the time until a new episode of Desperate Housewives. I think it is also worth noting that the production above does feature Rose from GA last season. Apparently she was very good in "Midnight Bayou" according to the vice president of IMS who does have Lifetime and watched it.

I checked out that new show "Kings" on NBC last night in hopes of finding a new alternative source of male shirtlessness, but alas there was none. The posters for this show have been all over the subway for months, but until last night, I really had no idea of what it was about. The poster made it look like it was about a borough of New York called "Kings" (instead of Queens?), but I found out that it actually is about a monarch. I applaud the strong desi presence on the show and the casting of ethnic minorities without any discussion of how it's so weird that they are minorities, but other than that, I'm not really sure what to say.

I have to go out of town unexpectedly to help a friend in need and may not be able to post on Friday. I wish you all a good week and look forward to some good shirtlessness in a climate other than the permafreeze of New York. Until then, I am...

Thanks GA!

Okay, the above picture is not a shirtless shot, but the actor, Kevin McKidd, was totally shirtless last night on GA and I felt like maybe the world was moving in the right direction again. Stock prices are rising and there is shirtlessness on Grey's Anatomy - maybe all will be well in the world. Now I realize that the Dow is down this morning and we won't get another episode of GA in weeks, but at heart, I am an optimist! Anyway, I was happy to see some shirtlessness last night even though it was part of a strange post-traumatic stress disorder storyline. Watching it made me realize how much I have been missing shirtlessness on the show, just like going to Florida made me realize how much I have missed the sun. Instead of looking for shirtlessness, I have been playing a game like "Where's Waldo" in which I try to note all the different ways the crew tries to hide Chyler Leigh's pregnancy on set. Last week they hid her behind other interns. This week she always carried a chart in front of her stomach. I wonder if we'll get to Marcia Cross proportions of putting a television in the the shot in order to hide her pregnant tummy. I'm sure lots of surgerys are in Lexie Grey's future so that she can always stand behind the operating table!

By the way, tomorrow is "Support Women Artists Now!" day, and I encourage everyone to participate in SWAN Day activities or at least support a project created by a female artist. Check out the Fund for Women Artists website for activities. The SWAN Day page features Sandra Oh. For my part, I am starting rehearsals for a workshop of a new play co-written by a woman. I'm thrilled to be part of a predominantly female creative team and to work on a project about the terrible conditions in the Congo.

I'm suffering from a terrible cold right now, and so that is all I can muster. I don't know what I am going to watch on Sunday night, but I hope it will feature lots of shirtlessness. Until then, I am...

Lifetime Shirtlessness

I am most disappointed to post the above picture today. First of all, the commercials for this Lifetime movie, one in a four part series of dramatized Nora Roberts' novels, look so dreadful. Second, there are a ridiculous number of rumors surrounding the two stars which seem to have become the number one reason to watch the movie, aside from those really well-meaning people who have been dreaming of LeAnn Rimes making her television debut as an actress. Sadly, this seems to be the only shirtlessness on tv this week. So at least, Eddie Cibrian is continuing his streak of at least one shirtless scene in every movie or television show he does. I applaud him for that.

Meanwhile, DH is so juicy! I can forgive the lack of shirtlessness because of all the fun the ladies of Wisteria Lane seem to be having. I am glad that the camping scenario was followed up several weeks later, but I am totally confused by Dave's sense of revenge on Mike since in the season opener, it appeared to be Susan driving the car. I am confused but willing to hold out till the end of the season for an explanation. I'm just sad that I have to wait until April 19th for the next installment. I guess I officially now wish that I got Lifetime.

A few weeks ago, I read that some execs at ABC ordered Rob Lowe to stop tanning because he was looking too dark. As an Indian person, I get a little prickly by the notion that there is a "too dark" look, and as an actor, I thought that perhaps there were other things to comment on Rob Lowe's performance of this past season than his tan. I would have said, "Could you please look like you are interested in being on this show." But alas, I am not an exec at ABC. Last night, I thought the ever-pale Calista looked unusually tan. Could they be trying to make these two actors match? Hmmm... of course, I can't complain too much because there is now an inter-racial baby on the show and Tommy appears to have gone forever. If only I wasn't sure that family will win out in the end and bring him back.

Once again I lament the 30 degree days of New York in the spring. This weather is killing our cause. I fear no one will take their shirt off in the city ever again. I think I'll do a little sun dance in hopes of coaxing it back into our part of the country. Until then, I am...

Cirque du Shirtlessness

Since coming back from Disney World, I have been a little discombobulated with time; hence the late post. But you will be happy to know that I did see some good shirtlessness in Florida at the Cirque du Soleil show, La Nouba. I was not able to find a picture of the Daniel Craig look-alike in the show who twirls in the air on extended silks through the sheer power of his triceps, and so I give you this ensemble shot to give you a sense of the crazy bodies on display. As always, Cirque showed us not only beautiful bodies, but bodies that could do amazing feats. I was exhausted when it was over!

I'm still feeling a little sick and so have not completely caught up on my television from this week, but I am wondering how long GA will drag out Izzie's story. If we are going to have long drawn out death episodes, someone had better take their shirt off soon. At least McDreamy has started combing his hair again. That's a start.

My trip to Sun Country taught me that sun deprivation is a real condition, and I have been suffering all winter. Shirtlessness might become a matter of good health soon in order to increase surface area for the skin to absorb vitamins from the sun. Truly. Our cause is not a light one, my friends. Good male shirtlessness is good for everyone. Let's hope the sun comes out in the northeast soon. Until then, I am...

Generational Shirtlessness

An IMS member was kind enough to send me this photo, and I post it because it highlights how one generation of good shirtlessness can influence the next. I like that Joe Montana, who is such a football legend that even I know who he is, encourages his son to maintain the two point standard of good shirtlessness, namely, fitness and seeing the sun. Look at them playing football together in the waves! It's really quite touching.

Last night's television left me mildly uneasy. UB was not quite as funny as I had hoped, although I have to say that I loved Wilhemina dancing around in her bra and furs and later declaring that she shall never go without champagne and caviar again. It's fantastic! I'm not sure how I feel about the new boyfriend. And sometimes I wonder how Betty's three years at Mode did not convince her that prints should not be worn together. But I'll take it compared to the train wreck that was GA. This Izzy cancer storyline is dragging on FOREVER. We all know that she released rather ungracious statements about the writers last year. Please write her off the show and get it over with. All I can say is that I hope they don't bring Denny back to accompany her to the pearly gates. Ugh! Also, I hate when McDreamy goes to the bad self-righteous place. It is not attractive. And opening the show with a shot of him in his pajamas with bad hair is very jarring.

I am off to Disney World with my mom for the weekend, and will not be posting on Monday. I need a break from the cold, the news, and my computer. But I look forward to what new good shirtlessness Florida may afford. Until then, I am...

Prince of Shirtlessness

My shirtlessness source recently sent me a link to the Huffington Post about Jake Gyllenhaal being shirtless as the "Prince of Persia" in a new movie bearing the same name, and I have to say the pictures look very appealing. This movie is apparently based on a video game. I'm not allowed to make fun of any more sources of film scripts since I thought making a movie based on a Disney ride was dumb, and that movie scored Johnny Depp an Oscar nomination. So what do I know? In spite of the fact that I don't play video games or want to see movies about them and that I don't quite get how Jake will play Persian, I feel that I will most likely see this movie. The above picture of his muscle-y torso is reason enough to go. Also, he has a nice smile, dates a woman who is older than him (not that Reese is in any way old), and is actually a pretty good actor. Too bad this movie does not come out until 2010 which is also when the economy is supposed to recover. Hmmm...

No shirtlessness to report from last night, but I did enjoy both shows quite a bit. DH was fantastic with all kinds of catty action on Wisteria Lane. I am confused, however, about what happened with Dave, Mike, and Katherine in the woods. On the last new episode which aired a month ago, didn't it appear that Dave was luring them to a campsite in order to do something bad to them, like kill them? Did I miss the episode in which this plotline was played out? In any case, I am excited for Eddie to uncover the truth about Dave and for someone to figure out that he killed his doctor in the fire. And to the other housewives, I say keep it coming! I am loving everyone's storylines, especially Gabby facing off with the cheating haridresser in the mall. Of course, I want the gay couple to return to the mix, and I'm a little concerned that the teaser for next week featuring "I Kissed A Girl" means that ABC is resorting to its GA strategy of making every new character a lesbian in order to help ratings. I don't know how many straight men watch GA or DH, and so playing out the straight male lesbian fantasy on these shows seems like a waste of time to me. I personally think that more male shirtlessness would improve ratings. Try that! At least B&S is trying to bring it back by having Nora slap Tommy. My advice would be next time, have her hit him harder. That character is so annoying, he should get slapped once an episode.

Well, I will be heading to the home of ABC, Disney World, in a few short days and just can't wait. Although I doubt there will be very much good male shirtlessness there (Mickey Mouse does not count), I am happy to be a place where it will be warm and sunny. Until then, I am...

New Young Shirtlessness

Sorry to keep posting forbidden pictures, fellow IMS members. They look good when I post them and get taken down later. My apologies. Luckily for me, my personal source of real male shirtlessness was kind enough to send me some shirtless pictures from his favorite show this week. I am a lucky girl if I can have shirtlessness in real life and the source of it doesn't mind me enjoying other shirtlessness on the side. I have the best of both worlds! But enough about me - please check out the new shirtlessness on "Heroes," that dying breed of network television, the hour long drama with a large multi-cultural cast. Justin Baldoni made a shirtless appearance this Monday. I'm happy to report that he is 25 years old, and so I don't feel so bad checking him out.

I didn't get to see UB last night to find out why Connor became so suddenly evil. I have a feeling watching the show will not help me find out, but let me hope for the morning. I have a terrible cold and will most likely lay on the couch tonight to catch up. I didn't even bother to record GA since I have had enough of Addison coming back to the show. Frankly, I am tired of all "events" on ABC and look forward to the return of regular episodes, provided that they are new, of course! Thank goodness for Sunday's new DH! Until then, I am...

No Shirtlessness, No Dying

While watching the B&S "event" last night, the vice president of IMS introduced me to Soaphunks.net which posts lots of shirtless pictures from the soaps. The VP also pointed me towards the "Passions" hunks who in addition to almost always being shirtless themselves, also like to go places with their other shirtless friends. I now wonder why I allowed the fact that magic figured prominently in the storylines dissuade me from ever watching this show. I find this so funny that I had to post these pictures since no one took their shirt off or died on B&S last night.

So the drinking game with Sally Field running almost derailed because all the running happened in the early parts of the show. We then added rules. I had to drink whenever Julia spoke because she drives me crazy, and he had to drink whenever Scotty spoke because Scotty speaks about the same amount as Julia. The we drank whenever Calista Flockhart cried. And we definitely toasted whenever they showed the mixed race baby who is the official person of color on that show. I'm not trying to promote drinking games here, but it became clear that the only way to the enjoy the show was with camp-y silly games and forays to the internet. We saw Rob Lowe shirtless for a minute, but that was while he was being shocked. It didn't seem appropriate to post.

I'm also caught up on UB and wonder if Connor's recent transformation into Evil means he will no longer take his shirt off with Wilhemina. That makes me a little sad. I hope I don't have to start making up drinking games for UB. Hopefully a male model will make a shirtless appearance soon and put everything right again in the UB universe. Until then, I am...
