Shirtlessness from Space

Apologies for not posting on Monday. I went home for the long weekend and was not able to post from my dad's computer. I also thought that a full week of Gilles would not cause anyone to complain. But now I'm back in New York and ready to post some new summer hotties, the latest being one of the stars of "Star Trek," Chris Pine. I am still trying to find someone who hasn't already seen the movie to go with me, but from all accounts, I hear it is fantastic. While no one has commented on the shirtlessness in the film, many have commented on the excellent tight shirts happening all over the place which brings me to a side note on our cause. As a fellow IMS member pointed out to me a few weeks ago, looking good in a t-shirt is nothing to sneeze at either, and I have to agree. That said, I don't know how many people would rally behind the cause of "good t-shirtfulness." On the other hand, if you give good shirtlessness, chances are that you look good in a t-shirt as well as in a well made suit. (See Daniel Craig, IMS Official Poster Boy 2007, who looks good in anything.) All this is to say that I understand that everyone in Star Trek looks good in their finely crafted, well-fitted Enterprise uniforms, including the above Mr. Pine.

I'm hoping that the summer brings more shirtlessness to the box office. We certainly need it after the long cold winter that continues to hold on even this week. Why did I wear my seater with the faux fur collar yesterday? The only thing that will make up for the dreariness of the last 6 months will be good new shirtlessness every week. Ryan Reynolds is coming out with a new romantic comedy co-starrng Sandra Bullock on June 19th, and now that I understand his high quality shirtlessness, I will definitely be going to see that. Please feel free to update me with other potential shirtless movies in the comments. Until then, I am...

IMS Official Poster Boy 2009

Of course, I was sad on Tuesday night when Gilles Marini lost to Shawn Johnson on DWTS. Not only was I sad because he didn't win, but I was miserable because the finale took three hours! Way to drag out the show and make more money ABC! I had to re-write my latest play that night and wound up working on it from midnight to 2am, all because of DWTS! Not only that, but Gilles did not take off his shirt for any of the entire three hours. So at 10:59 when I was practically passed out on my couch and they finally announced the winner (BTW, what is up with the 3 minute pause before announcing anything on that show?), I started to get teary. Gilles did not miss a beat in congratulating Shawn as soon as they said her name, and I have to say that I loved him even more. So for that Gilles, you are named IMS Official Poster Boy 2009. Thanks for raising the bar of good shirtlessness to include gentlemanliness and a sexy accent.

As I trolled the internet to find out how the new poster boy was taking the loss, I found out that he was happy. And now so am I, because Gilles is set to join the cast of "Brothers and Sisters!" Hurrah! Us Magazine reports that he is signed to an undisclosed number of episodes next season to play Sarah's new lover. And yes to IMS Vice President, I am personally vindicated that Sarah, the older sister career gal who seems to take care of everyone in her family, is getting to hook up with another sexy DWTS runner up. This means that no matter how whiny everyone else gets next season, there will always be some shirtlessness to smooth it over.

Sometimes dreams do come true! Until then, I am...

Yogi Shirtlessness

On the Today show this morning, I saw an article on a man who went from being a male supermodel to a yogi who practices ayurvedic medicine. This man is practicing extrememly good shirtlessness, and I thought in this crazy spring when everything seems topsy turvy, Yogi Cameron might be a good solution to the woes of the season. You can check out his website here! I think it's nice that one can use ancient Indian medicine and good shirtlessness to heal the sick! Obviously, Yogi Cameron is an excellent ambassador for our cause.

I enjoyed DH last night even though I read a bunch of disappointed Facebook posts about it. Like I said before, I have missed Mike and Susan. I'm still confused on why Dave went psychotic about an accident, but happy that finally everyone knows. Now the big question is who did Mike marry? I will go back and forth about this all summer. While there was no shirtlessness in the whole two hours, I feel confident that the season opener will feature lots of shirtlessness, starting with Carl who is good for giving excellent but rascally shirtlessness. And Mike should take his shirt off after wearing a shirt for the whole season. Ah September! Until then, I am...

Finals Shirtlessness

Although I do not usually promote reality television on these posts, you know I can't help myself where this sexy Frenchman is concerned! He takes his shirt off in almost every routine, and given that I can no longer rely on my normal stand-bys on GA or DH, I find myself forced to watch "Dancing with the Stars" to fulfill my weekly shirtless quotient. And I will most certainly be watching the finale this Monday. I may even vote.

Meanwhile, spoiler alerts for GA fans - last night's finale was really good. I understood what the John Doe was saying a minute after Meredith and started screaming too. Too bad for my neighbors since I was watching a tape of the episode at 1am. But really, the episode gave me a lot of what I like about GA except for shirtlessness. There was relatively little of Denny which was my big fear for the final episode - hurrah! Derek's hair was a little too short for my taste. And sometimes the men said the most ridiculous left turn things making me wonder if perhaps the person who writes all of Rob Lowe's dialogue on B&S has migrated to GA. But Mark Sloane telling Lexie that he is a better woman than her was priceless. If only he had been shirtless when he said it.

I'm looking forward to the DH finale on Sunday and UB next week. I hope Susan and Mike at least kiss. I like Katherine and have enjoyed the storylines, but there is no heat between her and Mike. I miss Mike and Susan. There was always good shirtlessness when they were together. The first season DH finale was the catalyst for IMS, and I am hoping for some new innovation to be born of this one. Until then, I am...

Continued X Shirtlessness

Continuing with the shirtless men in "X-Men Origins" series, here we have Taylor Kitsch who played Gambit in the movie. I don't remember him taking his shirt off in the movie, although I think I was just so generally perplexed by his storyline that I may have missed it. Looking at this picture, I think it's clear that if he didn't take off his shirt, he should have. I can't even bring myself to look up his birthdate for fear of feeling dirty for even looking at this picture. I will say the veins on the lower half of his body scare me a little bit. I know it's not in the Two Point Standard, but bulging veins are not a hallmark of good shirtlessness. And to make clear to some of my fellow writers' lab writers, I do not think that good male shirtlessness takes the place of a good plot.

In this tradition, I will say that I enjoyed DH in spite of its recent lack of shirtlessness because the stories are really fun right now. I have been wondering for weeks if anyone misses Mike and Susan as much as I do, and I guess the answer is yes - the writers. I am excited for a juicy season finale, and if someone or several someones take off their shirts, all the better!

I'm still mad at B&S for bringing back Tommy and making us watch him cry on Sally Field's shoulder to sad music. Bring back Carlos de la Fuente! Maybe next season, Kevin and Scotty will celebrate thier anniversary by taking their shirts off with Jason Lewis. Now that would be a good episode! Thankfully I have a whole summer away from the ridiculous melodrama of this show. I need to find some thing to fill my dedicated shirtlessness time on Sunday nights for the summer and am open to suggestions. Now that I have finished Season 2 of the Tudors, I don't know where else to turn. Please send some alternatives soon! Until then, I am...

Deadpool Shirtlessness

Last night at my writers' lab, the discussion turned to "X-Men" and everyone's disappointment with the movie. But all those who were bonafide X-Men fans did express an interest in the Deadpool movie that is supposed to come out. I thought Ryan Reynolds was ripped in Origins and would definitely see another X-Men movie if I thought he would be shirtless throughout the film. After all, the Deadpool outfit (do you call them costumes on mutants?) did not involve a shirt. The scary sewed up mouth thing was a bit much for me, but I could survive by focusing on the torso. Just saying. Who knew that boy-next-door Ryan Reynolds was ripped like this? Apparently, Scarlett Johannson.

I didn't watch last night's shows because of lab, and there was no shirtlessness on DH or B&S that is worth reporting. Most depressingly, I realized at the end of B&S that Tommy will be found this weekend. I hope that someone takes off their shirt in that episode to make up for what is sure to be a gooey mess of emoting by all of the actors on that show.

Today, it is finally sunny and approaching spring-like weather. I won't place any bets, but maybe I will leave my furry sweater at home today. Soon there will be shirtless men, sweating all over New York when we get hit with the humid summer. Let's all hope that IMS will have had some impact and that the shirtlessness will be good. Until then, I am...

Multiracial Shirtlessness

So I wound up seeing "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" this weekend as part of a birthday celebration, and the birthday boy mentioned that he would have liked to see the actor who played Agent Zero shirtless. So happy birthday, Alex! Daniel Henny played Agent Zero in the film and has quite an array of shirtless pictures. Now I am sad that he didn't take off his shirt too. I'm not exactly sure what this white thing is that he's wearing, but he certainly does uphold the Two Point Standard. Also, in all the articles that I have read about him, much is made about his biracial background, and I can't help but wonder if all this interest in multiracial origins has anything to do with a certain prominent biracial person who lives in the White House. This spring I have noticed a sudden surge of plays about people with multiple ethnic identities along with more talk shows about the topic, including a ridiculous episode of Tyra. I hope this interest can keep pushing our culture not to judge a book by its cover. Yes, ironic, coming from the president of IMS, but alas, good shirtlessness is only one aspect of a man, and I know from firsthand experience that sometimes it only serves to cover up something ugly inside.

As for the movie, it didn't make much sense, but it deliver quite a bit of good Hugh Jackman shirtlessness. I'll say that I think he is almost too fit in this movie, because the muscles at the base of his neck look like they are going to explode. But in spite of this, I still clapped when he appeared on screen shirtless for the first time. I was worried about being disruptive until the woman behind me decided to start talking to him, saying things like "I am so jealous" and "Mmm-hmm" every time he showed up. Given that the movie is subtitled "Wolverine," you can imagine that it was an extended conversation.

Finally Ryan Reynolds showed up shirtless again, and I will say that he is growing on me. His arms are crazy, and he should probably always be shirtless in at least one scene of every movie he makes. Since the weather is rainy once again (I'm beginning to feel like I live in Seattle) and all of my shows want to pursue serious storylines instead of shirtless ones, I realize that this is the only shirtlessness I will be seeing for a while. Good thing it was on a giant screen!

Should Be Shirtless

Usually Alex does not do it for me, but last night as I was watching GA, I decided that he should be shirtless. When doing an image search for Justin Chambers, I found lots of shots of him taking a few minutes to see the sun outside of the the set. Since I attempt not to use paparazzi photos, I couldn't post them here, but I think it's nice that someone on GA is really trying to adhere to the 2 Point Standard. Bravo Justin! I'm not giving up on McDreamy, but since he made me happy with his new cute haircut, I'm passing the torch on to Dr. Karev. I am still a firm believer that Mark Sloane should be shirtless at least once an episode, but since his love interest, Lexie, is pregnant in real life, I am tabling that one until next season.

In other news, I'd like to give a shout out to all of the wonderful dancers that I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with this past week at the Choreographers' Canvas. I was happy to add dance back into my routine after a winter of obsessively going to yoga and delighted to stage my return with such a kind and generous group. Also, major thanks to the choreographer who asked me to dance in her piece - you made me remember how much I like it!

After 90 degree temperatures over the past weekend, we are back to some kind of spring here in New York. Again, I am simply grateful for the sun. I'm off to yoga to continue preparing myself for that happy time when I will wear sundresses and flip flops for many days in a row. I hope the boys are doing the same because this summer, we are bring male shirtlessness back! Until then, I am...
